About Happily K
Hi! My name is Kelley MacDonald, and I’m the founder and editor of Happily K. I started blogging in 2012 and write about style, culture, food, travel, wellness, and parenting.
I grew up in Fairlee, Vermont, a tiny town that claims to have the longest ice skating trail in the United States. I studied mechanical engineering as an undergrad, and after graduating, I worked for the federal government as a research engineer for several years.
While working in my research job, I started blogging as a side project. But it wasn’t until March 2014, when I moved to NYC with my husband and our Boston Terrier that I got into a daily blogging habit. This space served as a way to keep in touch with family and friends and document our new life in the city.
After a few years of blogging, I took a long break from writing and maintaining this site. At the time, the load of working full-time at the startup Bloglovin’, freelance writing, training for my first marathon, and simply surviving in NYC was a lot.
But I always knew I would return to this space (I love it so much!), and in early 2020, I relaunched the site. I’m so happy to be back!
Please feel free to email me anytime, or find me on Instagram.
Thank you so much for reading.

Hi Kelley! I saw your blog when a mutual friend liked it on FB and your photo came up on my wall. I was so excited to see those two faces that I recognize from way back at Rivendell. I am so excited for you and Dan. You both look great and what a wonderful wedding story. All the best, Ms. D
