A couple weeks ago, my mom and her husband visited us in the city and we were able to squeeze in lots of action in only a few days. One afternoon, we walked up to the American Museum of Natural History, which is only a short walk from our apartment. We saw the huge blue whale (this thing is 94 feet long and 21,000 pounds and suspended from the ceiling!), Dark Universe (the new space show), a rain forest at the Hall of Biodiversity, several displays on American Indians (beautiful turquoise jewelry (my favorite!), hand-weaved rugs, and dramatic headpieces), and awesome dinosaur fossils!
Since it was the middle of April and lots of schools were on vacation, the Museum was hopping! I was kind of surprised at how tiring it was to wander through the Museum and was ready for a nap after a few hours of bumping shoulders with everyone. But, even though it was packed, it was totally worth the effort. I would definitely recommend the Museum of Natural History is you’re visiting New York City or looking for something to do one afternoon.

Fantastic pictures, Kelley! I hope you’re okay with a revisit to take your 4 year old nephew when we visit later this month…
Thanks, Meg : ) Absolutely-we should go to the Museum of Natural History and the Children’s Museum! Can’t wait! xoxo
