Casual Work Wear

May 7, 2015August 28, 2015 Kelley 1 comment

Casual Work Wear | City and Us blog

My office in the Meatpacking District is generally pretty casual, shorts and “athleisure” are fair game. But it’s also not unlikely to spot a suit or LBD with stilettos. My style is casual and comfortable, and I don’t want to think too much about what I’m wearing every single morning. So, these days, I wear a version of this outfit to work each day: black jeans, a button-down shirt (I have about four on rotation) and black booties.

I’m wearing black skinny jeans from Zara, $40. They’re comfortable for everyday wear and can be dressed up for a night out. I couldn’t find the exact pair I bought, but this pair (also $40) looks very similar).  I recommend buying one size down because they stretch out (I actually ended up returning the first pair I bought for a size smaller).

My button-down is from J.Crew’s “perfect shirt” line. I’ve had it for a few years, so this particular one isn’t available anymore, but this grey stripped one, $78 (currently 25% off with code SHOPNOW) is pretty and something I’d wear to work.

My suede ankle boots are from H&M, $60–love them.

My bag is the popular Transport Tote from Madewell, $168. Madewell totally nailed it with this bag. I see it all over the city. Mine was a Christmas gift a couple years ago and I highly recommend it. I use it every day.

I’m wearing these exact gold Ray Ban Original Aviators (58 mm), but I bought them a few years ago on ideel for $115 (versus the $150-$170 you’d pay at, say, Zappos.) Sites like ideel and Rue La La can be a little tricky for buying popular items like Ray Bans because they sell out in a matter of minutes–so be (really) quick about it!
