How’s your Friday going? This week has been a rollercoaster, so here are five things we’ve been doing that have brightened up our scene over the past several days.
Reading
Why Dr. Anthony Fauci Runs: “The most influential man in American public health is a 79-year-old former marathoner who jogs and power walks as much as possible. ‘There was almost nothing that could stop us,’ his running partner says.” Loved this article and Dr. Fauci’s perspective on running.
Watching
Following the events of the last Jurassic World film, Battle at Big Rock is a 10-minute short film set in Big Rock National Park and dinosaurs now live in our world. Watch the entire thing because there’s a fun surprise ending.
Listening
What are you listening to these days? I’ve been hooked on Down the Hill: The Delphi Murders, a true-crime podcast about the unsolved murders of two Indiana teens, Abby and Libby.
What’s fascinating about this story is that a grainy picture and a recording of the murderer’s voice ordering the girls “Down the Hill” was found on Libby’s phone. But, even with the photo, voice recording, and other evidence, investigators have not been to solve this murder.
If you’re looking for something lighter, Everything is Alive, the podcast of unscripted interviews in which all the subjects are inanimate objects, is delightful and appropriate for any age.
Making
An upside of social distancing is having the time to try out new recipes. One we’ve made approximately 100 times over the past two weeks is this Mango Ginger Smoothie. With only five ingredients — mango, vanilla (or plain) yogurt, fresh ginger (or crystallized, if you prefer), ice, and water — it’s super easy and delicious. I highly recommend it, especially if you like ginger.
Quoting
“Life is funny. It can be so random, so you have to learn how to sway. You have to be open to what slightly puzzles you, to what you feel curious about, not just what you already like because then there’s no space to grow and become more. In Peru where I grew up, there are earthquakes, and the buildings that are built to sway and move are the ones that usually survive. The ones that are too stiff tend to crack and fall down.”
— Mario Testino
HA the ending of the short film, so good!!
Haha! It’s the best!
