How are you doing? How’s working from home going? The days are starting to blend together, but otherwise, we’re as good as possible right now. Here’s the second post of Good Stuff, if you’re looking for some light-hearted content…
Reading
The new twitter account Room Rater reviews and rates what we can see when TV show hosts, news anchors, and pundits broadcast from their homes, and when guests call in remotely to talk shows and news programs. Some hosts and news anchors have even responded to their rating and it’s pretty funny. If you need a laugh (and who doesn’t right now?), take a few minutes to read through the feed.
Watching
Have you been watching John Krasinski’s show SomeGoodNews where he highlights good news around the world? I highly recommend it.
In the fourth episode, John threw a virtual prom for high school students who won’t have prom this year because of the pandemic. And he really went all out, inviting Billie Eilish, the Jonas Brothers, Chance the Rapper, and more to perform. The episode also features Brad Pitt as the meteorologist and a brief segment with NASA astronauts from the International Space Station!
Listening
Fiona Apple’s new album Fetch the Bolt Cutters was released on Friday, and to borrow a line from PitchFork’s review, No music has ever sounded quite like it. I especially like the dog barks (at least five dogs are credited: Mercy, Maddie, Leo, Little, and Alfie), which you can hear at 4:11 in the song above.
Quoting
Today is Marathon Monday, the day runners would have raced the Boston Marathon, but due to the Coronavirus, it’s been postponed until September. I love this quote by Des Linden, 2018 Boston Marathon champion and 2x Olympian, on how she’s getting through this time as a professional runner:
Staying home is showing up, which is okay. Showing up is using this time wisely and figuring how to make the best of it for you. —Des Linden
