And…We’re Moving to Brooklyn!

July 31, 2014March 22, 2023 Kelley 7 comments

Brooklyn Bridge

As crazy as it seems, only five months after moving to Manhattan from Vermont, we’re packing up again and moving across the East River to Brooklyn! This all happened really quickly (I posted this only three days ago), so we’re a bit dazed but so psyched!

We’ve loved our time in our Manhattan apartment but we think Brooklyn is the place for us. We found a bight, “large” studio in Park Slope with lots of light and only a couple blocks from Prospect Park. It’s close to cute restaurants and coffee shops, which is a big plus. And the large westward-facing window looks out over Brooklyn’s rooftops. The building’s rooftop has views of the Manhattan skyline, and we’re already planning date night drinks on the rooftop! We love how the area has a neighborhood feel to it.

So…we’re moving tomorrow! Big thanks to my Mom for coming down from Vermont to help with the move. Dan is really busy with work this week and couldn’t take the day off, so my Mom and I will be driving a Uhaul truck from the Upper West Side to Park Slope — HA. Wish us luck!

I was reading this on Grams computer and I think that you are a wonderful writer (as well as Dan). I think that the writing, pictures, experiences, and information would make an excellent article for those who live in the “wilds” of Vermont and New Hampshire and are considering a move to New York City. Have you considered publishing in a local New England newspaper or magazine such as IMAGE? Cindy

Thanks so much for the kind words, Cindy! I really love the whole process-writing, picture-taking, research, etc… I haven’t heard of IMAGE before, but I will look into it. That would be really fun to write something for a New England publication–great idea! See you soon! xx

We did it! What an experience! Kelley is the master navigator and driver- she maneuvered a 9-ft cargo van through Friday afternoon traffic in Chinatown, Little Italy, and Manhattan just as if she had grown up doing this….squeezing into packed traffic lanes, using the horn (as needed), and finding the right parking spots just in time. My father had a favorite expression, “Dynamite comes in little packages…” and Kelley is the epitome of this. She may be small, but she is mighty! Love you!

Haha…it was most definitely an experience for the books! Literally couldn’t have done it without you, Mom. Thank you so much for all the help! Can’t wait to have you down again for a visit sans sweating, crazy traffic, horn honking and box moving. xo
