Last weekend was the first weekend since I can’t even remember that we didn’t have a single thing planned. This is the type of weekend I crave. One, because it leaves room for spontaneity. And two, because there are no commitments, which is a welcome break after a week of meetings, deadlines, and playdates.
This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy a jam-packed weekend. A trip to the farmer’s market, a park meetup, a long run, a drink with friends in the neighborhood. I also love feeling like I filled every minute of my weekend with something good. But, these days, a completely unplanned weekend is rare, so I’m secretly thrilled when we don’t have anything on the agenda.
Even with no plans we still went to the farmer’s market, picked up library books, strolled around the park, watched an NCAA basketball game, and stopped by a friend’s house for a visit. This is what I mean by leaving room for spontaneity because sometimes it’s the weekend when we don’t have anything planned that ends up being the most fulfilling.
Can you relate? What’s your ideal weekend? Do you prefer a weekend with lots of things to do or nothing at all? Somewhere in the middle?

No plans. Spontaneous decision making. :-)
Yes!!
It’s always fun to have plans for some weekends, but I treasure the ones with none. On those I usually go hiking with my dogs.
Yes! Totally agree. Hiking with pups sounds like a perfect weekend activity!
I like a somewhere in the middle weekend. I like to get our and about – but not stress myself out.
Yes! Those in-the-middle weekends are the best!
