Two weeks ago, on my drive back to Brooklyn from Vermont, I stopped by The Brimfield Antique Show in Brimfield, MA. This popular pop-up flea market is a treasure trove for antiques, and I’ve been dying to see what it’s all about for a while. Here are some pictures from my visit…
Before going to Brimfield, I pictured something similar to fairgrounds at a country fair, but instead, vendors were set up along both sides of the main street that goes right through the little town of Brimfield. You could wander off the main drag and down pathways, driveways, and dirt roads that lead to huge fields full of even more vendors and shops.
It was a little overwhelming at times with thousands of people wandering through the markets, but I still had a great first experience. If you’re able to tag along with someone who’s been the Brimfield before, I recommend doing that. I was lucky enough to be with a group that knows Brimfield really well. They have a tradition of going together each year, (how fun is that?), and it was like having a tour guide, and since they knew of the best vendors to visit. They also knew exactly where to get coffee and homemade donuts — both necessary for an early start at Brimfield!
I wasn’t looking to buy anything specific, but I loved these canvas floor baskets and the indigo throw pictured above. I’ve also wanted a cowhide rug for a while, so I kept my eye out for one of those. And I love the idea of hanging an antique American flag as wall art (like this one behind a brown leather chair), so I was lowkey looking for a cool flag too. But I didn’t end up making a purchase this time.
What do you think of these decorated deer heads? Would you buy one?
Have you been to The Brimfield Antique Show before? What did you think of it? If you like antique shopping and flea markets, I’d highly recommend checking out Brimfield. There are two more shows this year. One is July 14-19, and the other is September 8-13.
If you’d like to see more photos, I posted a few more on my Instagram.
I love those baskets too! Putting Brimfield on my to-do list ASAP!
It’s a MUST!
