A year ago today, I wrote the first post for The City and Us. It’s simultaneously hard to believe it’s already been a whole year and hard to believe it hasn’t been at least two years. When I first mentioned the thought of starting a blog, I thought it would be a fun way to document our lives in a new place and stay in touch with family and friends back in New England. I thought I’d write about our adventures in NYC and the drastic differences of life in a city versus life in rural New England. My vision for the blog wasn’t crystal clear–instead, I knew exactly how I wanted it to feel: relatable, casual and real. If something wasn’t great–I wanted to write it down and share it; if something was awesome and worth telling–something I learned, a new recipe I tried, the best underwear for date night–I’d share that too. I truly believe one of the most valuable things we can do for each other is share our stories and experiences. And that’s what I wanted to do–put my thoughts and lessons learned out there and hopefully hear from my readers in return too–I love every time one of you comments. I feel so lucky to have you here!

It is such a beautiful site, Kel. You have done such a nice job growing and developing it over the past year. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for ‘thecityandus’.
