Have you heard of the children’s book The Pied Piper of Hamelin? Well, Russell Brand recently released his rendition on the old fairytale favorite, The Pied Piper of Hamelin: Russell Brand’s Trickster Tales, which piqued my curiosity. And since Russell Brand visited my friend’s school a couple weeks ago to do a live reading and give out copies, I was able to borrow the book. I was pleasantly surprised, which was…surprising. The illustrations by Chris Riddell are great and the writing is witty. I didn’t get a chance to read the whole book, but it’s an amusing and very British retelling of The Pied Piper of Hamelin (which adds to the humor since the story is set in a town in Germany during the Middle Ages). Here’s a look:
Have you read it? Will you? I think adults will enjoy Brand’s retelling as much–if not more–as children do.
PS. Did you know Russell Brand is an author? I had no idea. Interestingly, his first book My Booky Wook is a New York Times Bestseller. Huh!
Looks like a fun read!!!
