Last summer, Dan and I were lucky enough to go to Maine twice. In June, we spent a relaxing week in Bar Harbor with Dan’s family, and then, in August, we packed our bags and headed for York Beach, Maine with my mom and sister. We stayed in a cute oceanfront home with a large back porch and beautiful views of Long Sands Beach. Here are some photos from our trip…
The Nubble Lighthouse was a short walk from our rental, and we visited it a few times throughout the week. It’s a famous lighthouse, so it was nice to be able to walk over at off hours and avoid the big crowds. The Nubble is still in use today, and although no one lives in the house, we did see someone walking around outside one day.
The view from our rental was amazing. In one direction, we looked across to Long Sands Beach, and in the other direction was the ocean as far as we could see.
Here’s me and my sister Whitney with Long Sands Beach in the background.
We could walk down to the rocky shoreline from the backyard of the rental. We spent hours exploring tide pools and rocks. We really felt like it was our own little slice of paradise. Can you imagine growing up with this in your backyard?!
One day, we all hopped on a fishing boat and went deep-sea fishing. We had high hopes of catching something big, but no luck there. We did see a shark though. We waited for the boat on this giant deck that jutted out over the water.
Big thanks to my Mom and her husband Dave for putting this lovely week together for everyone! xo
This was a vacation full of fun and laughter. The house we rented had the most amazing view, we feasted on ice cream at Brown’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, we cast our fishing lines off the side of the Bunny Clark (sorry Dan!), scrambled over the rocks at the Nubble Lighthouse, and laughed till our sides hurt playing Guesstures. Cannot wait for our next getaway. Love you all!
